Core package

Supporting teams to develop campaigning skillsets

We will provide a grounding in the basics of campaigning through a foundation workshop series for early-stage campaigners.

This package may appeal to those who want to actively embed a campaigning mode across their team or organisation.

The four three-hour workshops include:

  • Introduction to Campaigning and Social Change
  • Analysing the Problem and Planning for Change
  • Communicating for Change
  • Evaluating What Matters

Our approach is flexible to meet your needs. We recommend that all Core packages include our ‘Introduction to Campaigning and Social Change’ workshop. Any of the other three workshops can be replaced by one or more of our specialist skills workshops.  View the full programme of workshops we offer here.

All workshops are run on-line. Our sessions and content are designed in accessible formats following best practise guidelines.

    Recent work with Rosa UK

Rosa UK is a grant-making charity that funds women’s and girls’ organisations working to make the UK a fairer, safer place.

SMK worked in partnership with the Grants team to develop a five-month training package for 40 Voices from the Frontline Fund grantee organisations. Each year, Rosa provides one-year grants to women’s and girls’ organisations to support campaigning and influencing work.

Anna Jarvis, Head of Grants from Rosa UK said:

Women’s and girls’ organisations are at the forefront of campaigning for the progressive changes in culture, law, policy and practice that improve women’s and girls’ lives. They often do this work with little or no resource. Through working with SMK’s trainers and speakers, we have seen our grantees develop confidence in their campaigning work, feel inspired to try new approaches, and reach new audiences. As one attendee said, “I feel a refreshed sense of drive and energy for my day-to-day work.’’”

We designed a five-part programme to meet grantee needs consisting of two events and three workshops. Each event included SMK’s big picture framing; taster sessions on campaigning skill areas or topics of the day; diverse and motivational speakers and opportunities for participants to meet in breakout groups.  One participant said of the launch event:

The way the content was laid out was really accessible with some useful tools.  The speaker was a stand-out for me because of her passion.  I liked the fact that grantees were encouraged to form their own peer support group.  The whole event was excellent and very supportive.”

The separate workshops provided an opportunity to dive deeper into key skill areas. All sessions and content were designed in fully accessible formats following best practice guidelines.

    What clients say

We would recommend SMK training. The experience from start to finish was outstanding. Our contact was very responsive and enthusiastic about the work we were doing with our group of Policy Advocates and keen to understand our brief well. Our Advocates are now better prepared to enter political arenas and utilise their newfound knowledge. Thank you.
