The ladies of FM2U join for a late Christmas and to celebrate our achievement of reaching the community within the past year.
Award-winning social entrepreneur Judith Neptial is committed to eliminating healthcare disparities that affect black African and Caribbean people who have cancer.
The Campaign
In July 2018, Judith came out of a reconstructive surgery to be told they had found a terminal cancer. Judith decided to challenge and independently research her diagnosis – a decision which she feels saved her life.
Awareness, knowledge, and research can mean everything, but the medical system can be a maze. Judith recognised that sometimes we need help to navigate the system, which led her to start From Me To You.
From Me To You is a community-led group of experts by experience and ethnicity providing peer support and advice. Using her own experience, Judith empowers the voices of people with cancer from black and ethnic minority backgrounds.

I feel truly humbled to be recognised for the work that we carry out at From Me to You on behalf of the black cancer community, in order to raise awareness, to impart knowledge and to advocate for those in our community who cannot. Unfortunately, disparities in healthcare do exist. However, when organisations such as yourselves highlight our plight I truly believe that one day change will come.”

The Change
Judith set up From Me To you, a group that focuses on helping black cancer patients navigate their care. She campaigns to amplify the voices of less reached groups, providing invaluable insights to organisations and people in power. Judith has the voice of ‘seldom heard from’ patients at heart, equipping them with vital tools to speak out and be supported.
In collaboration with Macmillan Cancer Support, Judith helped develop the Raising Your Voice Toolkit giving people the tools they need to speak about the cancer care they are receiving.
Judith has taken her learning, and that of others, straight to decision-makers. She testified at the Health and Care Select Committee on inequalities in cancer care for people from black and ethnic minorities, and has spoken at ministerial events. Her work has been featured on the BBC and other news outlets and she was recognized as a Platinum Champion for the Queen’s Jubilee.
The Future
Judith has dedicated herself to providing safe spaces for people of colour who are cancer patients. Going forward, her work will remain anchored by her lifelong dream of witnessing clarity in the quality of treatment that is extended to us all.
