Working at SMK
With a number of new projects expected to begin in 2019, we’ll need a wider set of skills on our staff team. Exact role descriptions will depend on the eventual demands of the new projects, so we are building a CV bank to create a ‘go to’ pool of candidates.
We are looking for people with:
- a driving interest in social change and campaigning
- critical and enquiring minds
- excellent writing and presentational skills
And who are skilled in one or more of the following areas:
- online content generation
- policy and public affairs
- working with young people
- project management
- consultancy (management, admin and delivery)
- training and workshop delivery
We know we will need the equivalent of two extra full-time staff, but are happy to accept approaches about part-time or flexible working arrangements. We’re looking for new Associates to support our consultancy work. Do you offer exceptional knowledge of campaigning and social change? We are particularly looking for people with experience in:
- digital campaigning/movement building
- local campaigning and community organising
- working with young people
- high-level strategic consultancy working with SMTs and Boards.

We are always on the lookout for capable and committed people to join our Board of Trustees. We are at an exciting stage of our development, with new projects, a higher profile and increasing engagement with all kinds of campaigners and change-makers.
We are keen for our board to better reflect the people we work with, and would welcome applications from people of black and minority ethnic backgrounds, young people, and people with disabilities. We are also interested in hearing from you if you have knowledge of the law and finance.
Our Board works closely with the executive team, providing invaluable support, scrutiny, check and challenge. If you have at least a day a month to spare, we’d love to hear from you.
